On-Call Catering Staff job description:
As an on-call catering staff member, you will be offered jobs as they come. You are not guaranteed a number of hours weekly and jobs are first come first serve. Each job will be in a different location and have different hours and expectations of styles of service such as family-style, full plated, passed hors d’oeuvres, and buffet. On-call staff will be asked to either meet at the location of the event or at Machina Kitchen & ArtBar to help to load up catering equipment and food. An on-call catering staff member is expected to uphold quality service and help to create the utmost enjoyable experience for the catering guests. You will run food, clean tables, set up tables, fill water glasses/bottles, help to replenish food, help to prep food or drinks as asked, tidy spaces, clean dishes, and do anything else asked of you from the kitchen staff or lead onsite manager. We require all on-call staff to follow Machina’s dress code and hygiene policies written in our handbook, be T.E.A.M certified through the liquor commission after onboarding, and have a valid driver’s license.
All on-call catering staff must be willing to work as a team to help their team succeed. This means if you see that someone needs help, see something is dirty, see something needs to be replenished, or anything else please take the time to so yourself or communicate with your team. We understand everyone has bad days, but there is an expectation that as an on-call staff member you can maintain a positive attitude during service. If you are having a bad day or need a mental health day, please communicate with your lead manager on duty or the ownership team. Any money given to an on-call staff member directly from their tables is the on-call staff member’s money to do so as they choose. If you tip out any other employees or participate in tip pooling that is up to your digression. Servers directly report to Chef Jordan Scott, Manager of the Day, any kitchen staff, or owners as needed. On-call staff must be able to lift 50 lbs.
