We view art as an interactive experience in which guests are active participants rather than passive observers. We want our guest to feel immersed in the experience that we have curated from when they walk through the door to when they interact with each staff member or enjoy each dish that they are served. Towards this end, our space is filled with installation art and hidden stories that can be discovered over time should the guest choose to explore. Our food and drinks are creatively presented and we strive to have our staff be knowledgeable and kind, cultivating an experience of intrigue, ease, excellence, and excitement.

The ArtBar is created to be a blank canvas for a site-specific contemporary installation artist to come in once a year and do a full install in our space. Instead of a white walled gallery, we have decided to push the norms and have a black walled gallery.
The Kitchen will hold a 3 month rotating gallery with a focus on contemporary 2D artwork.

We host 2D and 3D wall artists in our 'Machina Kitchen' on a 3 month rotation. We are looking for contemporary artists who have out of the box thinking. We are open to installation ideas as long as the space can be returned to its original state at the end of the 3 months. We ask that you provide your own hardware, take care of your install, and provide your own labels and an artist statement. There is a wall mounted business card holder. We do not take a percentage of any artwork sold but we will give your direct info for folks to purchase with you. A lot of artists have used Venmo and that has been a great option for selling work during the show period. We ask that the pieces stay up unless replaced for the duration of the show.
We expect artists will be able to fill the entire space. The dimensions are below. We also remind folks that our walls are yellow and to keep that in mind when considering what their work would look like in our space. We look forward to reviewing your work and seeing if you are a fit for our space! Thank you for applying!

The imagery that pervades my work reflects a lifelong fascination with animals. As a child this led to hours of watching, drawing, and imagining. When I began making sculpture as an adult I developed these mental images in three dimensions. Facility is not the objective of my work, but a means to convey an expressive moment. The materials I use retain a raw, immediate quality. Presence and absence reverberate in the sculptures: a network of steel lines builds the form, drawing and re-drawing the animal, creating a tension like the sudden sighting of a wild beast. The surrounding environment penetrates the negative spaces between the lines of metal; the landscape itself is imbedded in the work.To make the sculptures I search scrap yards for pieces that have been discarded and ravaged by life in the yard. Bent and twisted, such pieces contain energy and a potential new life. Industrial refuse is transformed to living form.

I’m a New Hampshire-based, self-taught abstract painter and my medium is acrylic on canvas. Ideas for both my portrait and abstract paintings are triggered by many things: Literature or magazine articles I’ve read as well as pop culture, music, people, animals, and nature (in other words, LIFE and the world around us). As well, I use painting as a way to reflect and intertwine a wide spectrum of emotions linked to my own life experiences of the past, the present and the anticipation of the future.

LightStudioJ documents my efforts to create art works that explore the interaction of light and color, and the ways that this interaction can take us outside of our day-to-day experience and give us opportunities to experience the world on a deeper, less ego-driven level.
I have been a stained glass artist for many years. My glass work can be found at www.chrisjeffrey.com. But at some point I realized that what truly excites me about stained glass isn’t really the imagery or the finished window. What fully engages me is the visceral response I have to the colors with which I work, and the light that creates and amplifies those colors.
When there isn’t the distraction of imagery or even a physical framework, those pure colors inspire in me a sense of mystery, introspection and penetrating beauty. It’s the feeling I get when I take the time to stop working for a while and watch as cobalt blue and crimson red, pure colors projected by the sun through a stained glass panel hanging in a window of my studio, slowly make their way over the floor and up the wall. The image in the panel, its dimensions, the motivation for its creation, fade to irrelevance. All that matters are the nebulous colors before me, not telling me what to think or feel, just allowing me to become absorbed in their intensity and beauty. LightStudioJ is my attempt to recreate and extend this experience by experimenting with different artistic expressions that have at their core the immense and consuming power and beauty of light and color.
